Mynell Counting House was founded in 2020 by Marilyn Balls and Amanda Bunnell, two accounting professionals whose journey began as instructor and student at a technical college.
In 2019, their paths crossed again when they became coworkers in the same accounting department. Working together quickly revealed a shared passion for helping business owners understand their numbers, reduce the stress of bookkeeping, and build stronger businesses.
In 2020, they decided to take that passion and build something of their own. Together, they have created a firm where accuracy matters, education matters, and the person behind the business matters.
Mynell Counting House was born.
Today, Marilyn and Amanda lead a growing team dedicated to providing accurate, thoughtful, and approachable accounting support to businesses of all sizes. From day-to-day bookkeeping to cleanup, QuickBooks support, accounting advisory, and tax preparation, our goal is simple: give business owners the clarity and confidence they need to make good decisions.
We believe accounting should be more than keeping the books balanced. It should help you understand where your business is today—and where you can take it tomorrow.

Marilyn Balls
Founder & Partner
Small Business Accounting & Advisory
Marilyn brings more than 15 years of experience in bookkeeping and business financial management, along with a lifelong passion for education. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and Finance in 2009 and is a QuickBooks Online Certified ProAdvisor.
In 2026, Marilyn added Professional Tax Preparer (PTP) certification through Universal Accounting to her professional credentials.
As an accountant and former instructor, Marilyn especially enjoys helping business owners understand their financial information rather than simply handing them a set of reports. Her approach is knowledgeable, patient, and practical—and always focused on turning financial information into something useful.
Her goal: clear books, informed decisions, and confident business owners.
Amanda Bunnell
Founder & Partner
Small Business Accounting & Advisory
Amanda brings a unique combination of accounting, financial operations, project management, and firsthand small-business experience to Mynell. After a 20-year career in cosmetology, she returned to school and earned her Business Technology certificate from Bridgerland Applied Technology College.
Amanda is a QuickBooks Online Certified ProAdvisor and has extensive experience managing the financial operations of small businesses.
She understands the realities of entrepreneurship firsthand and brings a practical, solution-focused approach to helping clients organize their finances and move their businesses forward.
Her goal: give business owners the organization, information, and support they need to grow.
